Germany’s “Hamlet” crowned best at Fajr theater festival

The jury panel for the 34th edition of Fajr International Theater Festival (FITF) has announced the winners for the international section, with Ostermeir’s Hamlet winning the Grand Prix.

The 34th Fajr International Theater Festival which opened on 21 January, 2016 in Tehran, announced winners for the international section during the closing ceremony on Monday evening, February 1.

‘Crime and Punishment’ directed by Iman Afsharian won three awards, while ‘When We Dead Awaken’ directed by Shahab Agahi won the Special Award of the festival. Germany’s ‘Hamlet’ directed by Thomas Ostermeir received FIFT’s Grand Prix.

Soudeh Sharhi for ‘Crime and Punishment’, Iran

Best Script:

Amin Ebrahimi for ‘A Song for You’, Iran

Best Director:

Iman Afsharian for ‘Crime and Punishment’, Iran

Special Award:

‘When We Dead Awaken’ directed by Shahab Agahi, Iran

Grand Prix:

'Hamlet’ directed by Thomas Ostermeier, Germany

Juries:

Stefan Schmid from Germany, Jerzy Limon from Poland, Oleg Loevski from Russia, and Masoud Delkhah and Farrindokht Zahedi from Iran
